In true country house tradition, the dining room is at the heart of our home and many a new friendship has been forged around the French walnut chateau table. We do have a limited number of individual tables for two should the occasion demand.

Our daily menus are designed around those guests who have made reservations in advance. (We are sorry but it is not always possible to cater for guests who have not made a reservation at time of booking). We serve a set four course menu each evening and we ask that guests meet in the drawing room at seven o’clock prior to being seated for dinner.

Our dining room has one of the most unique settings in the Highlands. Situated just a few feet away from where the river meets the sea, this room offers a wonderful opportunity to perhaps spot seals, otters and a wide variety of birds. During the summer months it is transformed in the evening by the vivid colours of the glorious sunsets for which the West Coast is justifiably famous. The décor has a nautical theme reflecting Pool House’s former role as a WWII naval headquarters, with its hand painted starry ceiling, zodiac fresco and sea faring charts. The main centrepiece, however, is the large compass embellished with gold leaf.

All meals are prepared from the highest quality ingredients. Some are from our own garden or supplied courtesy of our chickens and ducks. Many others are supplied from within a 10-mile radius of the house, as freshness and seasonality are paramount.

Lady Claire Macdonald's book "Scottish Highland Hospitality” has featured our chef John Moir and his food as being one of her top 20 places to dine in the Highlands and Islands. She says "the food is, quite simply, delicious……To eat in such a setting as the Pool House dining room, with its lovely views and unique décor, is a real pleasure and the warmth of welcome the Harrison’s exude is an example of hospitality at its best."
